Introduction
The Geological Society of Japan (JGS) was established in 1893 and has contributed to advancement of science through promoting studies and diffusion of information in the field of geosciences. Activities of the GSJ include the organization of meetings and excursions, scientific and educational publications, and the presentation of prizes.
